Wednesday Accedoo, the brand name of the composites ship doors and hatches made by VABO Composites from Emmeloord, has won the JEC Award at the annual JEC World Trade show. The JEC trade show is the leading event in the world of composites and the awards are the ultimate recognition. Accedoo received the award for the plug and play composite ship doors. Low maintenance, watertight, function integration and of course low weight are some of the innovative features of the products.
Besides this, so tells Arnold Vaandrager, CEO of VABO Composites, me have realized that the doors made it to the market in a relatively short time. We already ship them to shipyards is Germany, Italy, South Africa and the next orders are already signed. The certified (Bureau Veritas) doors are mainly used on high speed vessels, yachts or special ships (naval).
Vaandrager points out that interest from all over the world is increasing. The Accedoo product line, developed in conjunction with ICO and Spil Composite, has been introduced only a few years ago and already there are requests ranging from the Middle East to the USA.
Not only doors
VABO Composites is not limited to the development and production of shipdoors and hatches. Various other ship parts are made in Emmeloord. Vaandrager: “We are running a bit out of small projects and are making more and more big and complex parts of ships. Composites are finding their way into the top sections and superstructures of ships as they reduce the weight where it matters the most and reduce the total cost of ownership. 2017 is going to be a great year for us as composites are booming in shipbuilding”.
